The Chance Trigger generates midi information, which can be used to trigger audio such as drums, synths, and special FX, alongside external hardware. The purpose of the device has been investigated, with its primary purpose and function centring around drum programming and the ability to create complex rhythmic patterns. The probability element allows alterations to occur to the patterns, relying upon the random nature of the probability to induce unique and unpredictable ideas into the musical information.

The sequencer can be loaded with various different samples using Ableton's Drum Rack, using an 808 tom that has been tuned to notes within a minor scale.
When loaded with various weather samples the device can be used to create full soundscapes as well as other audio environments.
